How to choose the right hotel for your trip

A good hotel isn't simply a higher star rating or a nicer photo. It needs to fit the specific rhythm of the trip you're planning.

Start with location

Mark the places you'll visit most often on a map, then check not just the distance but the realistic travel time at busy times of day.

For a short city break, a central location can save you more time overall than a cheaper room further from where you'll actually spend your days.

Look at the whole package

Compare room type, meals included, cancellation terms, extra fees and transport links. A similar headline price doesn't always mean similar overall value once everything is added up.

Match it to who's travelling

A family needs practical layout and space, a couple often prioritises atmosphere, and a work trip needs reliable connectivity and easy transport. Start by naming the three things that matter most to you.
